Pastor Matt Anderson (Senior Pastor)
Pastor Matt Anderson is a servant of Jesus Christ with a prophetic teaching gift who is committed to helping people fulfill their God-given assignment. Pastor Matt was ordained and installed as the founder and senior Pastor of Grace and Truth Bible Church in Bowie, MD by Pastor Terry Wayne Millender of Victorious Life Church (Alexandria, VA) in October, 2009. By creatively preaching and teaching the message of the Kingdom of God, Pastor Matt endeavors to help people understand God's Purpose, Perspective and Plan for their lives so they can maximize their potential. He believes that, as Kingdom citizens, we should have a Kingdom influence in media, education, business, the arts, government and every other area of society.
Pastor Matt initially moved to the Washington, DC area from Oakland, CA in 1983 to pursue a degree in Broadcast Production at Howard University. After three years of study and working in the marketplace, he moved back to California and gave his life to Christ in 1988 at The Center of Hope in Oakland. In 1989, he moved back to the Washington, DC area and joined Free Gospel Deliverance Temple under the leadership of Dr. Ralph Green. In 1996, he moved to Northern Virgina and became a member of Love International Church under Pastors Crosby and Rose Bonner. Shortly thereafter, he accepted his call to preach the Gospel and, in 2000, he was licensed into the ministry. His Christian experience has also included serving as Youth Minister at Sharon Bible Fellowship in Lanham, MD.
In 2008, God assigned Pastor Matt and his wife Kem the task of planting a new and relevant church in the Bowie, Maryland area that would develop leaders through a practical approach to the message of the Kingdom of God. After countless days and nights of seeking God's direction for the new work, the Lord gave him the vision for Grace and Truth Bible Church based on John 1:14. "And the Word was made flesh and dwelt among us, and we saw His glory, glory as of the only begotten from the Father, full of grace and truth." The vision for GTBC encompasses four basic principles: To teach the Word of God clearly, to Worship God freely, to share Gods’ Warmth openly and to Work for God diligently.
A veteran media professional, Pastor Matt has worked in television and radio for more than 26 years. He has served in various capacities including Program Director, on-air announcer, and production director. He was a familiar prophetic voice at Christian/Gospel formatted stations like Praise 104.1FM, WAVA 105.1FM and Heaven 1580am. Further, Pastor Matt is skilled video editor and motion graphic designer. He utilizes this skill set in his creative approach to promoting the Kingdom message to help people discover, develop and deploy their God-given gifts.
Pastor Matt is a diligent student of the Word of God and a worshiper at heart who believes that we must understand our Maker’s mind in order to effectively worship Him in Spirit and Truth. Currently, he is pursuing a B.A. degree in Biblical Studies at Washington Bible College with an expected completion date of August 2010.
Pastor Matt and his wife Kem have three adult children and they reside in Maryland.
